RE: Microwave failure after just 2 years...why?
Not surprised on the price that Newmar wanted. Had a similar thing with my Bounder when the MW died - during dinner prep. Fleetwood wanted around $1100 if I recall. Of course the model was out of production, so nothing available. Figured out the problem, and it was recommended that I replace the failed part, door switch, with a upgraded design for about $20.

RE: Bandon to Medford
The road isn't the greatest but doable. Some time ago someone was ranting about how dangerous it is shortly after I went across it. (I asked if he was expecting a 6 lane freeway. The road has one rough, curvy section and the rest has small shoulders and not the best road surface. I have a 35' motorhome towing. To me it was jut another road. Might be some log and chip truck traffic.

RE: refrigerator
Yes, do it all the time with our 2016 Bounder. Inverter on, fridge on, drive on.
Make sure that you have something to keep the door closed. Is Fleetwood still using those stupid "Fidget spinners" for travel latches? About time the watermelon or the jar of sweet pickles flies out the door you'll understand.

RE: Brookings to Medford
Tripcheck.com has been showing 199 is open for the past few days.
199 does have about a 10 mile section that is narrow and curvy and a few trees that show some battle scars. Pay attention to the signs, watch your speed and watch for fallen rock. Once you get through the section it is just another road.
I wouldn't be galavanting around on any Forest Service roads.

RE: supersteer-ss401-rear-trac-bar-for-ford-f53-
The only difference between brands of trac bars is the color and price. They all do the same thing. Look at the different brands and compare how they mount. If you are going to DIY look for the one that are the easiest to install with your ability.

RE: Myrtle Point,OR to Bandon,OR
Been awhile but I don't recall any problems with your route. You will be fine. Might be some chip truck traffic if they are moving chips for export in Coos Bay, along with a few loggers.

RE: Reno nv to West Yellowstone
If you want to skip some Interstate stay on 93 to Shoshone and take 26/20 on to W Yellowstone. Decent road. Might consider a stop at Craters of the Moon east of Carey, ID. The visitor center is worth a stop and there is parking for large vehicles. https://www.nps.gov/crmo/index.htm

RE: Dead...
If you go with lead-acid get a battery watering system, like others have said, and use it every 60 days or so. Simple to use and takes about 10 minuets start to finish. I have used Flow-Rite for years. https://www.amazon.com/Flow-Rite-RV2000-Pro-Fill-Battery-Kit/dp/B001FCAXT0/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2S3HT64FTKAIC&keywords=flow+rite+battery+watering+system&qid=1690300428&sprefix=flow+rite%2Caps%2C164&sr=8-4 They can be ganged together for additional batteries.
As far as lifting out, GC2 batteries weigh about 65 pounds, get a battery lifting strap https://www.amazon.com/10L0L-Battery-Lifting-Universal-Carrier/dp/B07ZJC62H5/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1YNQQ9QB8EY07&keywords=battery%2Blifting%2Bstrap&qid=1690301122sprefix=battery%2Blifting%2Bstrap%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-6&th=1
Both items should be found at a decent auto parts store

RE: From a class C to class A ??
mpoulsen, Make sure at least the half bath is accessible with the slides in for those in route duties.
One advantage of the opposing slides that I like if we stop at a rest area or pullout along the road is that we can put out a slide on one side to make access to to kitchen a little better. Also real handy while I park at the house to load/unload.
As far as the drop-down bunk our Bounder has basic wrestling mat for a mattress. The oldest grandson claimed the bunk till he got about 14. We had a mattress topper laying around and we put it on it. It made it tolerable. I got kicked out of bed one night by the granddaughter and I slept on it, I could still move in the AM.

RE: From a class C to class A ??
If you have the 6-speed transmission now you will be a little disappointed in the 5-speed that will be in the 2012. But it will get you there.
We went to a 35' 2016 Bounder 34T from a 30' Forest River Sunseeker 2860 DS shortly after I retired. We were happy with the Sunseeker but I wanted an upgrade. That being said we planned on more travel but life happened. The extra space is nice when those times when she threatens to kill me and we need a little space to ourselves. The big thing for us was the opposing slides in the front which gives us lot of room when we have the 4 grandkids. Selling point for the DW was the combo washer/dryer. Less closet space but we take less cloths and if we can't hookup it serves for a hamper.
Downside is she will not try to drive it. At least with the Sunseker she would move it ten feet forward and five feet backwards.
Bounder has a 242" wheelbase and it turns really nice and sharp. the E-450 took the better part of 40 acres to turn.
Watch for storage creep, as you will have more space and tend to use it.
Enjoy no matter what you decide.

RE: VacuFlush problems
Sewage in the compartment with no or little vacuum is generally caused by ruptured bellows. Decent troubleshooting guide at Marinesan. https://marinesan.com/vacuflush-trouble-shooting/. They have genuine parts, decent price, fast shipping and phone help if you need it. The repair is not all that hard. I hope yours is a later model coach that is accessible from the outside.

ID 22 takes you over Teton Pass. It is a 10% grade from Wilson for like nine (?) miles. And what goes up must come down.

RE: RV Life Posting On Fresh Water System
From what I've seen of RV Life articles, they're mostly written by people with no professional background on what they're writing about. Just seems to be blogs and people looking to make a few bucks by writing articles. I read some, but now mostly give them a pass. They're usually looking to sell something rather than writing an unbiased piece. I'll bet there was a blurb about buying an aftermarket filter system somewhere in the article, with a link of course.
Yep.
